Self-taught filmmaker/animator Scott Portingale was a late bloomer on the independent film scene. In 2007 he said farewell to his career in commercial diving and has been making stop-motion animated films since. His first two animated films (Photosynthesis & Midnight Matinee) are often described as playful and whimsical. Their unique qualities have attracted the attention of numerous international film festivals and have won multiple awards. When he’s not making films Scott loves to travel while wielding a camera. He has worked as a documentary cinematographer and photojournalist for production companies and international development organizations in India, Central America, Africa, and Taiwan.
