Self-taught filmmaker/animator Scott Portingale was a late bloomer on the independent film scene. In 2007 he said farewell to his career in commercial diving and has been making stop-motion animated films since. His first two animated films (Photosynthesis & Midnight Matinee) are often described as playful and whimsical. Their unique qualities have attracted the attention of numerous international film festivals and have won multiple awards. Scott is currently producing his next animated film Ethos with the co-production support of The Banff Centre. When he’s not making films Scott loves to travel and has worked as a cinematographer/photojournalist in India, Central America, and Africa.
